Andy,
Dan also mentioned to me that our equipment should be the same. Dennis’ truck, for example, is a brand new $40K+ vehicle that is filthy. It was embarrassing. I would like him to clean it inside and out, if not already done since the last time I saw it, before the end of the week.
The message to our crews needs to be that this community paid good money for the vehicles and equipment we get to use, the condition the crews keep them in is a reflection on them and management, and it says something with the City Manager notices the difference between a contractor and our own forces. We should in turn show some respect to the community and keep them clean and well maintained like a professional organization. This is not a reflection on you but it is on me and I guess I didn’t assert myself enough with them when I talked about taking care of the equipment. After you again tell them to clean up, if they don’t and we don’t address it, then both of us have egg on our faces. If you need my help delivering the message then I am at your disposal. Thanks.

Grady, Dan Huff just stopped by my desk and wanted to pass along that (direct words) I really appreciate the cleanliness and professionalism of him and his crew. He presents a good face for the City while he’s out and about. His job site is left cleaner than…. I just really appreciate it. He said more than that too, but that’s the jist. You and your crew made a big impression today. Nice work.
