This looks good and is enough to generate the quantity estimates we will need. We can also talk to the Dyer folks to see who has recently done this work and get a copy of the contract and specifications to reduce the recreation of the wheel. Thanks guys.

Subject: Aeration basin

Gerald, Jason and I talked about the consent decree requirements we need to get done in the next few weeks. We agreed the following 6 measurements with a simple staff gauge would allow us to determine grit levels, since we know bottom of basin elev, and top of water elev. Once Jason has the 6 numbers to me I’ll put together a grit profile for you to pass along to whoever needs it. We decided not to measure any points on the sloping sides because we won’t be able to determine the exact position of the staff gauge to determine bottom of basin level on the slope. So math would be off. Let us know if you feel this is adequate.

As far as planning basin grit removal next year, Jason is thinking we are looking at a complete drawdown. We should talk about options with a contractor sooner than later, and mabe try to muck up a sample so we can get an idea of how compacted the material is, and whether it can even be dredged.

Thanks,

Andy
