Importance: Normal

Good morning everyone,

Andy asked me to pass on the following information regarding the Isopropyl Alcohol that we have distributed in the spray bottles:

“The Isopropanol Chemical at City Hall cannot be poured down the drain, it’s classified as a “Hazardous Waste” because it’s flash point is <140 degrees F. This chemical burns at just 53 degrees. So if it comes time to dispose of any of it, then it will need to come down here to the Shop and go in our Hazardous Waste Drum. The City is limited in the amount of Hazardous Waste it’s allowed to produce to 22 lbs in a single month, and 220 lbs annually (a gallon weighs about 8 lbs). This is necessary to maintain our status as a “Conditionally Exempt Generator” of hazardous waste. If we go over this amount we trigger a bunch of new legal requirements with DEQ.”

Please let me know if you have any questions.
