City EMs,

I am going to cancel tomorrow’s meeting based on feedback I have received, but I have been asked a few questions about the same topics so I wanted to follow up with an email for everyone.

Playground structures at parks – the guidance says “Keep day-use areas that are prone to attracting crowds closed (including but not limited to playgrounds, picnic shelters/structures, water parks and pools, and sports courts for contact sports like basketball).” The guidance is here: https://sharedsystems.dhsoha.state.or.us/DHSForms/Served/le2342E.pdf and is still in place. There was a question about tennis courts – it is not a contact sport, so based on the guidance it seems they can stay open, but if you are seeing issues with them you may want to consider closing them.

Gathering size and guidance – The current gathering size is 25, with physical distancing requirements and without travel. The state’s website breaks up the information, but it is on the main webpage in the graphic below, and more when you click read more. https://govstatus.egov.com/or-covid-19

What will Phase 2 look like – we do not have much information on phase 2, other than we know we have to be in Phase 1 for at least 21 days and continue meeting the prerequisites during that time. The state’s website says the next phase may include optional increased work in offices, in-person gatherings up to 100 with physical distancing and limited visitation in nursing homes. But this is subject to change.

Thank you,

Jamie Poole
