Subject: Library closure

Importance: Normal

Mayor, City Council, Library Board members, and City Department heads,

After discussion with the library directors of the County, and in consultation with Dan, we have made the decision to close the Molalla Library as of the end of business on Sunday, March 15. Below is what I will be posting on the website, Facebook, to our newsletter subscribers, and the Pioneer:

In order to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus and support public health, Molalla Public Library will close starting Sunday, March 15, 2020, at 5:00 PM with a tentative re-open date of Wednesday, April 1, 2020.

We recognize that this service disruption will impact our community and did not make the decision lightly. Library and city management are following the guidance of public health officials and will continually reassess the situation and our response.

To support our library users during this time, we have made the following adjustments:

· All materials will have due dates extended to April 30.

· All hold pick-up dates will be extended to April 8.

· Please keep your library materials until the due date or until the library re-opens again.

We encourage you to explore the multitude of ways you can continue taking advantage of library resources and services, even if you cannot visit the physical library. With your library card, you have free, 24/7 access to the following digital services:

· E-booksand e-audiobooksforchildren, teens, and adults – and we are temporarily expanding the number of available audiobooks in CloudLibrary

· Bookrecommendations and read-alikes withNoveList Plus

· Languagelearning withPronunciator

· And much more

Beginning Monday, March 16, residents without a library card will be able to register for e-card access via lincc.org, granting instant access to our online content. The LINCCmobile app is also free to download on your devices. Use it to browse the collections, access your account, place holds, check out e-books and e-audiobooks, renew items, and more.

Need help from a staff member? Molalla Public Library will continue to offer telephone services, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM -5:00 PM.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support of your library.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you all for your support.

Diana
