Subject: Molalla, Draft I/I Plan comments.

Importance: Normal

Hello Jennifer. We have completed our review of your draft I&I plan and have the following suggestions, comments and questions:

Suggestions

· Section 3.4.2, I recommend using a handheld GPS unit for pinpointing smoke sources in the field, in addition to other location methods.

· Appendix A, Field Inspection Forms, Pipe Network Table, add a field for pipe invert elevations in manholes. This will help you to calculate capacity.

Comments

· Section 1.1, 3rd paragraph, 2nd sentence, it looks like you have “I/I in there twice (“I/II/I”). Is this just a typo?

· Section 1.1, last paragraph, 5th sentence, change the second “City’s” to “City”.

· Section 1.2, 2nd paragraph, 3rd sentence, change “organized” to “organize”.

· Figure 1A has three items with asterisks, but there are no footnotes immediately below the table to describe what these mean. Please clarify.

· Section 3.3.1, next to last paragraph, last sentence, remove the word “in” from the phrase, “ … through in the winter of …”.

· Section 3.4.1, 5th paragraph, last sentence, there appears to be enough space for the last word, “City”, to fit at the end of the previous line.

· Section 3.4.1, 6th paragraph, first sentence, change the word “sewers” to “sewer”.

· Section 3.4.2, 1st paragraph, remove the word “suited”.

· Section 3.4.2, 6th paragraph, 6th sentence, change the word “are” to “is”.

· Section 3.4.3, 2nd paragraph, 2nd sentence, change the word “crew’ to “crewmember”.

· Section 3.4.4, 3rd paragraph, 2nd sentence, change the word “crew” to “ crewmember”.

· Section 3.6, last paragraph, last bullet, remove the letter “a”, immediately before the word “digital”.

· Section 4, 2nd paragraph, 2nd sentence, add the word “the” immediately before the word “City’s”.

Questions

· Appendix A, Field Inspection Forms, Pipe Connection Fields, what is the value of having a “Pipe Width” field, in addition to a “Pipe Diameter” field?

· Appendix B, Example Notification Letter, at the bottom of the letter, there is a blank line after the sentence that reads, “Additional information concerning these activities may be found at either”. What do you intend to put here? Same question for the door hangers.

· Do your pump stations have overflow pipes?

· Do you have overflow alarms?

All in all, a comprehensive plan. Implementing this plan should result in significant reduction of I & I for the city. Good job!
