There are two individuals that have been living in this white car for some time now. You can see on the hood there is a plastic bag. In this bag are what appear to me to be some sort of hypodermic paraphernalia Each morning since Monday, according to my parks crews, they have been leaving needles and trash all over the park and we have been picking it up. I just heard about this a few moments ago or I would have contacted you sooner! While we are trained to a certain degree in handling bloodborne pathogens we it is not okay for me to leave a known risk in place and actively ask our crews to face it every day. Therefore, unless one of you has an overriding instruction for me, I’ve asked that tomorrow instead of facing that risk a fifth time, that if our parks crews find any needles in Pocket Park, they are to Caution Tape off the park and post signs that warn the public to stay out until we can resolve the root cause of the problem. We understand that needles are part of Molalla’s parks, and while we hope this changes someday we will continue to work to keep the public safe. But in this case, I’m just trying to figure out how to keep the public safe as well as our employees. Does anyone have any suggestions for me on how I can handle this situation? Thank you!
