Hi Alex,

We submitted a second and final request for them to complete the pretreatment form. The first form was not completed and sent back to us. If they do not complete the form as requested then we will shut off services to their site in accordance with our municipal code. They have been difficult to work with and non-responsive to requests from Public Works. Thanks.

Regards,

Subject: RE: question about IDDE and hemp processing

Hi Alex,

Alice is no longer with the City. I’m not sure how much guidance our situation provides. Last fall, a hemp processing facility began operations in the City limits and it has been the subject of much concern due to air quality discharges + odor, noise, and land use violations. Additionally, there is no onsite stormwater treatment and DEQ is currently determining whether a 1200-Z permit is required.

We initially had some concern that there may be untreated discharges to the sanitary system. Our crews did investigate inputs from their facility into the sanitary system and did not turn up concrete evidence of anything illicit. I have included our public works director on this chain in case there is more he may be able to provide additional insight on this matter.

Best,

Subject: question about IDDE and hemp processing

Good afternoon,

I was given your contact information by Ryan Johnson with DEQ. I have been looking for information on the regulation of hemp processing facilities with regards to their waste water and procedures in the even of suspected illicit discharge. I was led to understand you had dealt with this type of issue before and I hoped you might share your story with me and any insight you gained through your experience.

Thank you for your attention in this matter,

Alex Wade
