Hi Chad,

You won’t believe the trouble we have had trying to get Julie Jacobson out of that house at 529 Hart Ave. The mother of the deceased didn’t want to sign in writing and Jacobson has been elusive and destructive. She, or one of her minions at her direction cut the padlock off her water meter to turn it back on. So public works removed the meter. Two days ago, PW found someone had plumbed a piece of pipe around the valve and was stealing water again. PW put a large concrete abutment over the top of the meter box to stop the theft and then Jacobson call Gerald and threatened to move is last night… it hasn’t happened yet. Then she told Gerald he had to move it because it was killing her grass. HER GRASS!

So I put some serious pressure with phone calls to the attorneys representing the mortgage company and told them they needed to step up and help us protect their property. Additionally, I told them the next step for the city to stop the theft was removing the hookup from the main line, which would incur a $3800 hookup fee to get back in business. I also MAY HAVE asked them (attorney or law clerk) if would be helpful for me to have my city attorney draw up a letter and place a lien on the property for the expenses being incurred by the City. Funny thing, the next day (today) I got a call from the attorney legal person in the listed email saying that did the trick and the mortgage company is ready to sign.

I hope I haven’t misspoken, but we needed to push harder for the neighbor’s sake. Now the only decisions is what and how to post on the house for the trespass and how much time to give them in removing their stuff. I also plan on charging her/them with criminal mischief I for tampering with a public utility, if I can get them to admit who did the cutting and installing.

Any thoughts?

Rod
