Dan,

We can present on July 25. What time shall we be at city hall? How shall we get the powerpoint to you? Do you need a topic or materials in advance?

Thanks,

Scott

Scott – We will need to schedule something on either a 2nd or 4th Wednesday. That happens to be their meeting times for Council meetings every month.

Hi Dan,

Thank you for your reply. No, our full team cannot attend on any of those days. Would another day be available to present to the council?

Thanks,

Scott

Scott – Molalla City Council meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. Our next 4 meetings are June 13th and June 27th . And July 11th and 25th. We would just need to know you are coming two weeks before the scheduled meeting.

Subject: Public Health director requests time with city council

Dear Mr. Huff,

I am following up on the presentation Dawn Emerick, Director of Clackamas County Public Health Division, made about Tobacco Retail Licensing (TRL) at the City Managers meeting on May 7th. In the subsequent discussion, the group agreed that a presentation to city councils is the next step to garner support for a county-wide license for retailers to sell tobacco and nicotine products. On behalf of Dr. Emerick, I would like to request 20-30 minutes of the City Council’s time for her to present TRL and the benefits.

The 2017 Oregon legislature passed a law raising the legal sales age of tobacco to 21 but failed to pass TRL to enforce the Tobacco 21 law.

The Clackamas County Board of County Commissioners, acting as the County’s Board of Health, has directed Clackamas County Public Health Division to create a proposal framework for a county-wide TRL to prevent youth access to tobacco and nicotine products. We are interested in speaking with your city council over the next 4-8 weeks if possible. Please send me some dates/times when your council is available to talk about the TRL. Protecting our youth from tobacco and nicotine is a quality of life value we all can get behind.

Feel free to contact me with questions, sfrance@clackamas.us or 503-742-5340. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your consideration.
