Hi Sue,

 

We have prepared the attached memorandum summarizing applicable redistricting requirements for the City. The memo is intended to provide a high level summary of relevant timelines and criteria to consider during the redistricting process. As stated in your memorandum, there is limited guidance for local governments on conducting the redistricting process and most authority just requires that it be completed. But we do believe it is prudent for local governments to adhere to authority promulgated at the state and federal level, which is summarized here.

 

Our memo does not specify what City staff or third parties should be engaged to conduct the redistricting process. I'm happy to contribute to that conversation, but know that those items will be introduced and discussed during the upcoming work session.

 

If there are questions or items we should discuss further, please let me know.
