Hi Stephanie. I was thinking of scrubbing with detergent and then picking that up with a street sweeper, thus no impact to the UICs. Also was thinking more so of the cleaning of the concrete surface itself as well. This would give a good visual indicator as to whether the oil is continuing to well up out of the seam.
Thanks for the update.

Hi Mike,
I got all of the accounting paperwork processed for the survey and have scheduled those to happen next week. I will follow up with our facilities group next week and see how clean we can get the seams without sending any detergents or cleaning agents to the UIC. TriMet’s Facilities group holds the contracts with the sweeper/vac truck contractors.
I will let you know how the surveys go.
Thank you,
Stephanie

Stephanie – another thought I had regarding evaluating this: due to the strange nature of this issue, it may be beneficial to clean the “seep-up” areas with a detergent solution and see whether the seeping continues with the on-set of higher water conditions this season. If it is not this could significantly change the concerns we have with environmental and human exposure.
