Good afternoon Mike:
I am the new Senior Planner at Molalla. I started here on April 24th. Steve Miller has finished his interim work with our City and I’m now in the saddle, so to speak.
I have worked for several Oregon cities over the years, including Milwaukie, Gresham, and Tualatin. I have always had a great working relationship with the Fire Marshal’s. I don’t know if you know Ty Darby from TVFR, but he was my last Fire Marshal in Tualatin. He is a great professional. I also know the lead or Deputy Fire Marshal Kate from TVFR.
I just called your office and learned you are out of the office until May 20th. I wanted to talk through your comments a bit to better understand the background and options.
I don’t want to share these comments with mobile homeowner until I have had a chance to talk this through with you. I want to learn if there are options for fire-department approved locking gates. Does your department use Knox Boxes on gates for access? Is this an option in this situation? Are there other alternatives? Being unaware of the history here, it’s very possible you have already explored these options with the property owner.
Your office assistant said you might be checking emails in your absence. Given the severity of this comment, I don’t want to share this comment with the homeowner. I would prefer the fire department to do that – especially since it’s not anything the homeowner can correct. It’s really an issue between the Fire District and the manufactured home park owner/property manager. What kind of communication have you had previously with this manufactured home park owner? Are they aware of this issue?
As you can see, I have many questions rolling through my mind for this permit. I look forward to hearing back from you as soon as you are able to respond. I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Alice Cannon
