Subject: Shirley Bank Subdivision

Folks,

I am a resident of the Molalla River Estates, and my property abuts the proposed addition of 7 houses. I am excited to see some nice development to take the place of the abandoned house that stands there now, but like all the neighbors I have some concerns. My concerns are primarily safety related, and really pertain more to Hwy. 211 then the proposed development. The speed limit on 211 in front of the proposed development is 55 mph, and cars start accelerating before Shirley (heading NE out of town) so that it becomes very dangerous to cross 211. I ride my bike a lot and have had many close calls. An intern for my company was almost hit crossing 211. He may not have been paying enough attention, but the car that almost hit him was certainly going too fast. If traffic isn't slowed down I am afraid that it will be a matter of time before someone is hurt or killed on that stretch of 211. I think the speed limit should be slowed to 35 mph at Vaughn street. If the speed change was made I think that access to the new development could be from 211. A cull desac from 211 for access to all the new houses would lessen the traffic through the existing Molalla River Estates also. I think that all the current residents would be happy with this change to the proposed development. This would lessen the likelihood of a pedestrian involved accident as well.

Best regards,

Dante LaMorticella
