Hi Loretta,

 

Our residential standard is 12' minimum and 24' maximum (2-car) or 28'

maximum (3-car). It looks like the current driveway is 16' wide behind the sidewalk so they could cut the east wing off and widen the throat to 28'.

That would be about 4 feet off of the property line. Not sure what your maximum width is but if it is larger and you are OK with greater than 28'

feet I don't have any objections. There is a street tree they will need to avoid on the property to the east. Let me know if you have any questions.

I discussed this with the Region Access Management Engineer. ODOT has the authority to approve the location and width of driveways on state highways. There is not enough room to put in 2 separate driveways in this location. ODOT minimum driveway for a residence is 20 feet. The wing on the neighboring existing driveway would encroach on the new driveway. I have discussed with the duplex owner and required that he share an access with his neighbor. This would require that he remove the entire existing driveway and construct a new access that is ADA compliant.
