If it is not a gang MB then it needs to be the ODOT standard detail RD100 and RD101. See what was installed on Molalla Ave plans for an example. Print out from ODOT page and provide to Steve. He needs to follow the setback requirements and angle the sidewalk around the back if there isn’t the minimum clear space to meet ADA.

The new SFH Steve Smelser house at 517 Hart installed the mailbox on a 4x4 post. Do you have any problem with this if they add a few holes for break away?
