Good after noon gentlemen. In regards to removing the hydrants, I would have to voice concerns about this. When this establishment went in, it was under the assumption that the hydrants were functional. It was only after the operation was up and running and the onsite crews had no water, that it was discovered that the hydrant line had a leak and the main line for the site had been shut down. The only water for that site on the corner of Section and Shaver. This hydrant has had a meter and hose hooked up to it since the operation of the business to supply water for dust control and day to day operations here. This is not a private hydrant. There has been more equipment and product placed on the site since over the years and we have had three fires at this site since this operation has been up and running. The most recent one being July of this year in a piece of equipment. With that, I would object to having the hydrants removed. Rather than removing them, they should be made functional as everyone thought they were initially.

Hi James,
I believe that is all an old private system that is no longer functioning so I don’t have an issue with it.
Hi Dave,
Please coordinate with Dennis Welle or Adam Schultz of our Maintenance Division. The main office number is 503.829.5409 and they can coordinate to make sure that all of the valves into the site are closed. I’ve also included the Fire Marshall in the email so he is aware of the hydrant removals.

Gerald
Dave Elwood – our supervisor overseeing projects ta the chip plant – wants to pull the old hydrants and get them out of our way. I don’t see a problem based on our discussion Friday and your voice mail last week. Do you see any issues with removing the hydrants on the property? Dave’s cell on 360-430-8589. Thanks
