Hi Mike,
Cerakote (aka Clear Armor) is listed under the safety data sheet as a Water hazard class 2: Hazardous for water and toxic to aquatic organisms. Avoid disposal in landfills and sewage systems. Avoid release into water sources. Product has not been tested for environmental effects.
It appears to be a newer product and I cannot find any data on it at DEQ. We would not allow a business to discharge or wash down this material into our sewer system since the WWTP is a essentially a biological machine that would be affected by this product. The product is made from the following chemicals:
Parachlorobenzotrifluoride (98566 70-75%) TSCA
2-Propanol, 1-methoxy-, acetate (108656 4-5%) TSCA
1-Propanol, 2-methyl- (78831 ,0.5%) CERCLA, MASS, OSHAWAC, PA, TOXICRCRA, TSCA, TXAIR, TXHWL
Here is the decoder ring
TSCA = Toxic Substances Control Act CERCLA = Superfund clean up substance MASS = MA Massachusetts Hazardous Substances List OSHAWAC = OSHA Workplace Air Contaminants PA = PA Right-To-Know List of Hazardous Substances TOXICRCRA = RCRA Toxic Hazardous Wastes (U-List) TXAIR = TX Air Contaminants with Health Effects Screening Level TXHWL = TX Hazardous Waste List
In accordance, with 13.08.520 we can reject their ability to discharge into our sewer system or require pretreatment as a condition. At this time, without further information on how to treat this product I am inclined to reject the waste and would not allow for the use of this product on any site within our service area.

I directed this gentleman to Clackamas County for his sprinkler question as I am not familiar enough with the process to answer his question. I don’t believe that he would but there is a lot of unknowns.

Subject: Paint booth
Hi,
I am interested in moving my hydrographics/cerakote business to the Keith Brown building. This move would include my paint booth. (not painting cars) Is a sprinkler system required? I also have have 4 fire cabinets that I keep my paint in.
