The Newberg City Council met on June 19, 2017 and took the following actions: ● Directed staff to place a ballot measure on the November 2017 election to ask voters to approve an annexation into the Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue District. ● Directed staff to prepare an ordinance to bring back to Council to not levy $1.88 in the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 and to have no increase in future years greater than 3 percent without a vote of the electorate. ● Reopened recruitment for District 1 Council vacancy as Marc Shelton withdrew his application. ● Approved Ordinance 2017-2818, Merchants Exemption for Newberg Old Fashioned Festival. ● Approved Resolution 2017-3381, Awarded $10,000 grant to Habitat for Humanity from Affordable Housing Trust fund for repair of manufactured homes. ● Approved Resolution 2017-3382, ODOT contract amendment for Newberg-Dundee Bypass project. ● Approved Resolution 2017-3383, Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce destination marketing plan. ● Approved Resolution 2017-3384, Updated Master Fee Schedule repealing property reservation fees and adding a Utility Right of Way application fee. ● Approved Resolution 2017-3385, City Attorney annual evaluation. ● Approved Resolution 2017-3386, Access easements for partition and medical clinic. ● Approved meeting minutes for May 15, 2017. In other business, City Council: ● Heard from a citizen on the status of animal control in Yamhill County. ● Continued a public hearing on Ordinance 2017-2815, Dutchman’s Ridge Annexation to August 7. ● Acknowledged the Finance Department and their receipt of a certificate of achievement for Excellence in Finance Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association. ● Appointed members to several committees including Citizens Rate Review, Library, and Riverfront Master Plan Citizens Advisory Committee plus student commissioners to Historic Preservation, Planning and Traffic Safety Commission. ● Heard update on marketing grant program with Transient Lodging Tax monies.
