The Newberg City Council met on May 15, 2017 and took the following actions: ● Denied Ordinance 2017-2815, Dutchman’s Ridge Annexation ● Approved Resolution 2017-3374, supporting City for All Ages Taskforce ● Approved Resolution 2017-3363, approving Blaine Street Stormwater Improvements contract with M.L. Houck Construction Company for $810,975. ● Approved Resolution 2017-3369, terminating drainage and access easements for Blaine Street Stormwater improvements. ● Approved Resolution 2017-3380, declaring a vacancy for Council District No. 1 due to resignation of Councilor Hayley Delle. ● Approved meeting minutes for April 17, 2017. In other business, City Council: ● Heard from If I Were Mayor contest winners, which included: Kyndra Davidson, Abel Schwanz, Alex Kubin and Devan Duey. ● Proclaimed May 15 a day honoring Newberg High School cheerleaders for their achievements. ● Proclaimed Public Works Week May 21-27 ● Heard an annual report from Waste Management and a proposal for curbside glass recycling ● Heard a presentation from the City Manager on his activities. ● Recognized outgoing Traffic Safety student commissioner Norma Yazmin Uribe Zapien. ● Received a certificate from the AARP Network of Age-Friendly communities program ● Heard a quarterly report from the Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce. ● Postponed City Attorney evaluation to a future meeting. ● Discussed Council Priorities during a work session.
