The Newberg City Council met on October 21, 2019. The Council took the following actions: ● Recognized Pam Young for her 22 years of service by proclaiming October 31, 2019 as Pam Young Appreciation Day. There will be a celebration on Oct. 31 from 2-4 p.m. at the Public Safety Building. ● Approved several resolutions: 2019-3605, Contract award to HDR Engineering for Oxidation Ditch project at Wastewater plant. 2019-3609, Initiation of process to vacate North Center street right-of-way. 2019-3610, Hires of Alison Seiler, project specialist part time; Miles T. Franzoni, on-call Library assistant; Brianna Solberg, Engineering intern part time; Jennifer Valdez, administrative support coordinator. 2019-3611, Initiation of Comprehensive Plan text amendment for Water Management and Conservation Plan. In other business, Heard from citizens concerned about Elliott Road’s classification as a collector street, and communication with the community about the recent trial in Yamhill County and city business. Heard presentations on next steps for NewBERG Community Visioning, and Visit Newberg quarterly report. Heard activity report from City Manager Pro Tem, and an update on the recruitment for the City Manager. Eight people have applied so far, and the recruitment runs until Nov. 24. Discussed Council committee and community activities.
