The Newberg City Council met on January 16, 2018 and took the following actions: ● Approved Resolution 2018-3429, awarding Transient Lodging Tax monies to Chehalem Cultural Center ($250,000) and Newberg Downtown Wineries Association ($20,000). Council referred the Wolves & People request back to the TLT committee for further review. ● Approved Resolution 2018- 3435, initiating a Title 15 code amendment for lot width at the building line in R- 1 and R-2 ● Approved Auditor’s report and financial report for the fiscal year 2016-2017. ● Approved minutes from December 4, 18 and 20, 2017. In other business, the Council: ● Held 3 public hearings and first readings for Ordinances 2018-2824 on updating population projects, 2018- 2821 on new legal description for city limits, 2018-2822 creation of private streets in Planned Unit Developments. Second readings will be held on February 5, 2018. ● Heard reports on city activities from the City Manager and department directors. ● Heard from citizens on the proposed sale of the Animal Shelter, the recommended grant of TLT monies to Wolves and People, allowing private streets in Planned Unit Developments, and amending the Development Code for building line width in R-1 and R-2 zones. ● Held an executive session on union contract negotiations update.
