Hi, guys! I hope you all had a wonderful
Christmas! I did. I was at my niece’s place in Beavercreek on
Christmas Day. She’s at about 1,100 feet, so it snowed quite a bit at her
place that day. What a treat! So here it is New Years Eve—just hours
until 2008. Yikes! Time sure flies when you’re having fun.
Here is the current draft of our proposed amendments to
Title 47, Rules for Open Burning. This one has several changes which were
made in response to comments from our legal counsel who handles most of our open
burning enforcement cases. They mostly just eliminate redundancies and
move things around a little to make them clearer and easier to understand.
I sent the notice, statements of need and fiscal impact, and staff report to
Steve Mabry at the Secretary of State’s office a couple of weeks ago. He
said it looked fine and there shouldn’t be any problems getting it
published. I haven’t heard anything more from him, so I’m assuming the
notice of February 12 hearing will be in the January 1 Oregon Bulletin.
Shelley, I listed your name as rules coordinator for DEQ and
mine for LRAPA, so that people will have a number to call LRAPA directly instead
of calling you. If you get any calls, you can refer them to me at
541-736-1056 Ext 225, or to Ralph Johnston at Ext 213. Let me know if you
need anything else from m e.
