Subject: Conversion Technology Rulemaking update

Importance: Normal

Hello Conversion Technology Rulemaking Advisory Committee,

This is a brief status report on the progress of the Conversion Technology Rules. We’ve been making some minor adjustments to the rules, exploring some new language and obtaining internal staff review; all of which has taken some time given staff time constraints. We plan to post the next version of the draft rules to the Conversion Technology Rulemaking website by mid-November, for your review and comment. As you’ve requested, we will include a summary of any changes since the last draft.

We are not anticipating another advisory committee meeting and plan to address any comments or concerns from committee members through e-mail or phone communication. We are however open to another full committee meeting if a significant concern or issue arises that is best addressed by the full committee.

Committee members will have more time to provide comments during the Conversion Technology Rule public comment period, which currently is scheduled for the month of January. Barring any issues that would delay rule adoption, the plan is to present the final Conversion Technology rule package to the Environmental Quality Commission for adoption in March 2013.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me or any DEQ Conversion Technology Rulemaking team member. My contact information is: barrows.bob@deq.state.or.us or 541/ 687-7354.

Respectfully, Bob Barrows
