Thank you for the invite. I’ve penciled in both dates. 27th is preferred as there is a Metro meeting (Leslie attends) on Thursday, but will by pass it if necessary.

Subject: Invitation to participate on Conversion Technology Rulemaking Advisory Committee

Hi Rick,

This is a follow-up to the voice-mail I left you today. DEQ is asking for your help in the development of definitions, permitting, performance standards and fees for Conversion Technology Facilities. Our basic problem is that we don’t have specific rules that define or address the regulation of these new Conversion Technology Facilities. We have been using our Treatment Facility rules, but they were not setup for this type of facility.

We are about to begin a rulemaking process to address this and are forming an Advisory Committee to help us develop our rulemaking proposal. We hope to present the proposal to our Environmental Quality Commission for adoption in late 2012.

With your knowledge of Conversion Technologies and solid waste management , we would very much appreciate AORs participation on the Advisory Committee. We are looking to schedule our first meeting on either Thursday, January 26th, from 9:00 am – Noon, at our Portland Headquarters, or Friday, January 27th, from 9:00 am – Noon at the same location. Would one or both of those dates and times work for you? If not, are there other dates that would work better for you?

We are expecting to hold from 3 – 6 meetings (possibly more) over the next 6 months. We will also make arrangements to enable full participation by phone.

Please let me know about whether you will be able to participate on the Advisory Committee and, if so, which of the proposed first meeting dates would work for you.

Thank you for your consideration of our request. I look forward to hearing from you and please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Brian Fuller
