Dear DEQ:
As you may know, it is recommended for good health that people eat
fish multiple times a week. We buy wild caught and hopefully
sustainable fish; I used to fish the Columbia but stopped when the
runs became so low that we feared the salmon was dying out.
I was always frightened by the fishing guidelines put out by Oregon
Fish and Wildlife warning people about the toxicity in our fish,
telling us to avoid certain fishing areas, certain fish, limits for
children and pg women---that is just a horrendous inditement of our
environmental problems.
We must do whatever it takes to clean up our water, soil, and air.
As you well know, most of us eat many more than 6.5 grams of fish per
day and our DEQ rules should protect us, protect our fish and protect
our environment from toxic waste. Please correct the rules to help us
all.
Thank you for all your good work for the people and critters, flora
and fauna.
