Importance: Normal

Brian: I think the primary jobs need to be added to the 500, plus the seasonal jobs. So there would be 140 plus 500 plus the 225 seasonal.

Brian: I count 110, plus 30 full time equivalents. So 140 times 3. I would not take the 225 times 3 because of the seasonality. I rounded to the 500 which would be conservative. The secondary jobs are the ones you described. I may by shy on the secondary but I was being conservative.

Gary,

Based on information from PGE, the plant employs 110 full time, 30 contractors, and 225 seasonal workers. Where you describe the multiplier effect of secondary jobs, you are talking about other jobs, such as those in the local economy that support or are in response to the work force at the plant, correct? Jobs at restaurants, stores, construction, public services, etc? So based on the multiplier effect, should it be 110+3040+225 X 3 (mulitiplier), or approx 1000 primary and secondary jobs?

I believe that number is closer to 18 percent. Please use this percent.

Thanks

Thanks Gary. Very helpful information. The fiscal statement we sent you was clearly a “draft”, and this is the kind of economic impact information we need, and why you’re participation on the committee was important. I have in my notes from the meeting that PGE Boardman plant provides approximately 15 percent of the revenue for Morrow county government. Should I include that as well? Think the comment came from Commissioner Tallman.
