These rule changes will: • Prohibit general field burning in the Willamette Valley, • Reduce “identified species” and “steep terrain” burning from 25,000 to 15,000 acres per year, • Prohibit straw stack burning and propane flaming after 2013, • Allow up to 2,000 acres per year for emergency field burning to address major disease outbreaks and insect infestations, and • Establish “critical non-burn areas” for field burning near power transmission lines, schools, hospitals, and airports.
